Rockabillys call game early after putting up 14 runs in seven innings against the River Dragons.
The Jackson squad slashed 15 hits en route to their 14-4 victory in their first game of this four-game series.
After a frustrating loss yesterday Coach Holem went back to what he knew was going to work. "We needed to get on a roll, and you're gonna continue to see this again tomorrow," Holem says when asked about the team's success. The Rockabillys are looking for their first series victory after falling to Dubois County in the second game of the opening series, and that is the goal for this team to end this homestand.
Oftentimes in a 10-run-rule game, the offense gets all the credit, most of which is deserved. Defensively, this was a rebound game for the Rockabillys, who had allowed 3 unearned runs the day prior on 3 errors. A strong start, Cy Maness allowed for a few other arms to get into the game for the first time, including crowd favorite Max Richardson, who is originally from Jackson, TN, and grew up going to both Rockabillys games as well as rooting on the Jackson Generals before their closing
The bats still deserve their credit as 5 players boasted multi-hit games, including the GOAT of the game, Ayden Makarus, who went 2-3 with 3 RBIs and a couple of stolen bases to his name. The team combined for 9 steals in tonight's contest, including 3 for Zavier Hatfield, who is on pace to break the single-season steal record, which was set by Blake Burris of the River Dragons, who snagged 47 bases in 2022.
The Rockabillys continue their homestand today (5-29) against the Alton River Dragons, who are in town until Sunday. It's Firework Friday at the ball park, so practice up on your Katy Perry lyrics and come on down to 4 Fun Place!
