First Taste of Heartbreak in Jackson

Goats late inning run falls just short in extras as they fall 4-3 in game 2 against the Bombers.

After their opening day win, the Rockabillys came into their second game with high hopes and a much different starting lineup. "It's just like Spring Training," says first-year manager Matty Holem, "We gotta find what works for us." Holem's starting lineup today contained 4 new position players who combined for 1-10 hitting. 

The Rockabillys still knocked 6 hits to the Bombers' 4. The production from Dubois County came mainly from Jackson's 3 costly errors. Of the 4 runs scored by the Bombers, only one of them was considered earned, whereas all three of the runs scored by the Rockabillys will be considered earned runs. 

A bright spot in tonight's game was leadoff hitter Zavier Hatfield, who stunned the crowd with an amazing diving catch in the fourth inning to stop an extra base hit. Hatfield also slashed for 2 hits, going 2 for 3, and had 2 of the team's RBIs. 

Coach Matty Holem claims that this team is special and will fight back in their first 4-game series of the season as they take on the Alton River Dragons, who are still looking for their first win after dropping their first 2 games to the Catfish and the Doggy Paddlers.
