Jackson Dealt 8-1 Loss at Hands of Cape
JACKSON, Tenn.- The Catfish stormed into Rockabillys Stadium and gave the Goats the work, in what ended up being the ninth home loss of the season for Jackson.
Cape got on the board almost immediately after a solo shot in the second inning, but for a while, that was the only bit of offense either team could muster. Brock Tapper had an extremely efficient first four innings, however, Cape found answers to Tapper in the fifth.
The Catfish tallied five runs on six hits over the inning, with a lot of that building off their aggressive plate tactics. They were seeing about one to two pitches from Tapper, but that's all they'd need to see to smack three doubles and an equal amount of singles.
With a 6-0 lead built up through five, it felt all but wrapped up in the Volunteer State. That sentiment would hold true. The Rockabillys managed to score eventually on a solo homer off the bat of Merik Carter, and they conjured up some solid performances from Drew Blalock and Jack Pitts, but that was about it for the Goats.
Cape put up another pair of runs, and the losing streak to the Catfish extended to eight games for the Goats with the 8-1 defeat.
Goats Notes: Jackson has a day off tonight before hitting the road for a long stretch that begins in Dubois County. The first pitch between the Bombers and Rockabillys is set for 5:30 p.m. CDT.
