Rockabillys Drop Pair to Alton

Rockabillys Drop Pair to Alton

ALTON, Ill.- Game one was delayed and picked up the following evening, forcing a doubleheader between the River Dragons and Rockabillys on Saturday. Unfortunately, this delay didn't aid the Goats, and they returned home empty handed after 11-5 and 9-5 losses.

Game One

The Rockabillys stepped off the bus with offense in mind, and they delivered out the gates. Bradey Moad pushed across Gregory Berroa on a single in the first, and later in the same frame Drew Ripepi followed suit, plating Ivan Vega.

The multi-run lead was swiftly dashed by the River Dragons, who plated a pair immediately versus Lawson Ryan. Vega would sacrifice fly though in the ensuing offensive spot and play would be halted until the following evening, with the 'Billys up 3-2.

That's when it would all go downhill unfortunately. Alton's bats began to connect against Ryan, Ethan Ell, and Nathan Rhodes, and the pace was just way too much for the Goats to try and keep up with. They fell in game one 11-5.

Game Two

Another game brought forth another opportunity to get a road win, but alas, the River Dragons were simply too overpowering once again.

Alton snagged a four run lead, but the Rockabillys showed some life in the fourth with three runs on four hits. Cade Miles led off with a double, and he was later sent around on a Jake Maddox single. Then, Drake Blackwood joined the party with a double to score Ripepi and Maddox, pulling the Goats within one.

Unfortunately, that's as close as they'd come. Adriel Vega and Drew Blalock both racked in some RBI late in the contest, but by then, the game was out of reach. Jackson was swept by Alton in their last showdown in 2025.

Position Players on the Bump

Earlier this year, Moad had made his Rockabilly debut on the mound. In this two game set, we saw both Blalock and Adriel Vega work an inning, and in fact, they combined to strike out five, walk two, and allow no hits. However, neither were in a spot to collect a win like Moad, but they did a phenomenal job at eating some innings for the Goats.

Goats Notes: The Rockabillys run it back at home against Thrillville tonight at 7:00 p.m. CDT. For the Goats, it is Texas Roadhouse Family Night!
