Rockabillys Handed Home Loss by O'Fallon
JACKSON, Tenn.- A crowd of just over 4000 popped out to Rockabillys Stadium to catch a ball game on the fourth of July, but, they unfortunately found themselves at a lopsided affair that saw the visiting Hoots outslug the Goats, and defeat Jackson 9-4.
An extremely eventful third inning was where a majority of the action took place, as the Hoots managed to plate five runs in the top frame, and the Rockabillys needed an answer. Thankfully, they had one. McKay Whitaker smacked a double into the left field corner, and he was eventually scored on a Jake Maddox single into left. A few batters later, Charlie Jury was at the dish with bases loaded and he was plunked in the leg. Then, the final run came across on a Bradey Moad sacrifice fly to right.
It was a two run ballgame until the fifth when Whitaker worked a walk with bases loaded, and now the Rockabillys were within one. But, that's as close as they'd come.
A pitching change for the Hoots brought in Christian Harvey, and he was utterly phenomenal over his five innings of work. He struck out ten 'Billys batters and gave up no earned runs, silencing the Goats offense, and buying time for his own.
The Hoots outhit the Rockabillys by a whopping 14-4 margin, and eventually brought the game back to a five run lead after plating another in the top of the ninth. There was no response this time from the Rockabillys offense, and it became the Goats fifth home loss of the year.
Goats Notes: The Rockabillys will have a shot at redemption tonight versus the Hoots at 7:00 p.m. CDT in Rockabillys Stadium. It is Elvis Night at the ballpark as well!
