Rockabillys Win Fifth Straight, Defeat Springfield 15-5
JACKSON, Tenn.- It was the best Jackson could've done in their five game home stretch, as they steamrolled Springfield on their way to a fifth consecutive victory Wednesday night.
The bats were sizzling as soon as the first pitch was delivered, with all but two starters finding themselves with at least one hit.
Springfield scored first off of a double, but they were not prepared for the offensive onslaught that would be on display. Mason Acton walked in a run, and Parks Bouck had a timely single to score a pair, creating a two run lead for the home squad.
Then in the second, Brett Rogers plated Ivan Vega, and Cameron Greene followed suit by waving in Rogers. These crooked numbers continued to stack up as the game moved forward, with Jackson going on five innings of ball in which they scored two runs or more.
In the third, Drake Blackwood homered, and Vega narrowly avoided the Blue Monster with one of his own, just one batter after Blackwood's.
With the game handily out of reach, the 'Billys continued to pile on until they approached the seventh, where they would lead 15-5. Springfield made it interesting by putting a runner on second with nobody out, but they were unable to score, and the run rule was in effect.
Central Superiority
Jackson now sits at 7-1 versus central division opponents, and 10-2 while they are at Rockabillys Stadium this season. The contest was also vital for the standings, as the Rockabillys now possess first place in the south division, one of the toughest divisions in the Prospect League.
Goats Notes: Tonight the Rockabillys will take on the O'Fallon Hoots in Missouri, with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. CDT.
