Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Rockabillys announced that 2024 & 2025 Jackson Rockabillys RHP Trey Watson has signed a professional contract with the MLB-Partner League, the Pioneer League, today. The Pioneer Leaguer is a top-flight league created for MLB-focused prospects. In 2024, Watson was the Prospect League leader in ERA with a stunning 3.21 ( almost a full run better than the second-place pitcher), in WHIP with 1.14, and wins with six and All-Star Pitcher Award for the season. The Beauregard, Alabama native and University of Mobile product has been a crowd favorite and dedicated Rockabillys-loyal team member.

Watson departs with these words, "I cannot begin to describe my appreciation for the Rockabillys and the folks of Jackson.  Through summer ball, I have found a second home in Jackson and family with the Rockabillys,"  stressed Watson.  Last week, Watson threw an eight-inning shutout on only 91 pitches against O'Fallon, which set in motion his recruitment by the Pioneer League, along with his ultra-successful stint in Jackson in 2024. Watson is featured on the cover of the Rockabillys 2025 pocket schedules as well as their 2025 Souvenir Game Program and Yearbook.

"While we have bittersweet feelings about Trey's departure... we are so proud that he will be furthering his baseball journey into the professional ranks.  Trey has been a tremendous member of our organization, the first to volunteer for public appearances and autograph sessions, and any time we asked players to be a part of something outside the playing field, it was always Trey who stepped up.  All of our staff will truly miss him but will follow his ongoing career with interest.  Trey is a perfect example of a true baseball gentleman and fierce competitor on the mound," stated Rockabillys President and GM Dennis Bastien.

Watson reports to the Northern Colorado Owlz in Windsor, Colorado,  today, Monday, June 16th.
