Rockabillys Finish Roadtrip with Loss to O'Fallon 4-1
O'FALLON, Mo.- The Rockabillys rounded out their week long road trip against their south division opponents and fell to 2-4 in that span with a three run loss to O'Fallon at CarShield Field Thursday afternoon.
The Hoots soared out to a two run lead almost immediately, with the pair being plated thanks to a couple singles and a double. Then in the sixth, a Cade Grevengoed solo-shot to left added another run, making it 3-0.
With their backs against the wall, Drew McConnell singled and scored Jake Maddox, to trim the score a little, but that unearned run was all the Rockabillys could muster. The Hoots put up one more to kick the Goats while they were down, and that was the conclusion of the offense for both teams.
On the mound, Matthew Riley was solid for Jackson, but failed to match the effectiveness of his Hoots counterpart Brady Coon. The only thing that held Coon back was himself, as he allowed three walks to the 'Billys, yet they were simply never able to convert on these opportunities.
Return to Rockabillys Stadium
The Goats get a brief break from interdivisional play as they come back to Jackson, Tenn. for their next five games. And despite their lackluster performance away from the Volunteer State, there were plenty of positives to take away with this week of games. Most importantly, the limitation of walks and hit-by-pitches has been encouraging.
Goats Notes: It's a return to familiarity for the Rockabillys, as they take on the Normal Cornbelters tonight at 7:00 p.m. CDT. For fans of the Goats, it's Leaders Credit Union Night and Fireworks Friday!
